FAQ

What is your refund policy?

If you are dissatisfied with your order in any way, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team about a return or exchange within 7 days of purchase. We want you to have the coffee that is right for you!

When is my coffee roasted?

Our coffee is roasted fresh every week!

When do you ship?

Our coffee subscription boxes are shipped out at either the beginning of the month or the middle (or both!) depending on the subscription you chose. If you placed your order:

  • Between the 5th and 20th day of the month, your Doorstep Barista box will ship or be ready for local pickup around the 1st-3rd day of the next month.
  • Between the 20th – 5th of each month, your coffee subscription box will ship (or be available for pickup) the 14th-17th of the same month.
Where do you ship to?

So far, just Canada. But if you have special request, reach out and we’ll see what we can do.

How much is shipping?

We charge a flat rate of $8 per box to all places within Canada.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Of course!  But why would you want to? 😉 Cancel anytime with no cancellation fee. You can cancel your subscription by logging into your account at any time. Once logged in, go to ‘Subscriptions’ and click on the ‘Cancel’ button.

Does the coffee change monthly?

Yes! We choose new coffees for every box we ship you. There’s so much good coffee to explore!

Will you grind my coffee?

If you’ve opted for local pickup and live in the Edmonton area, then yes! We will be happy to grind your beans in store when you pickup your box at either of our cafes. Just let us know what method of brewing you use so we grind it to the right coarseness.

If your box is being delivered, we do not pre-grind your coffee. We want you to be able to try each coffee at its absolute best, and unfortunately, grinding coffee too far in advance means its often stale before you’ve received it.

Can I pick up my subscription box at your coffee shop and save on the shipping costs?

Yes! We just introduced two local pick-up options.

Now when you checkout you’ll have the option of having your Doorstep Barista box shipped to you, or you can select either of our Square One Coffee shops (Glenora or Aspen Gardens) for local pickup.

Are the farmers paid fairly?

We love talking about this! The Sustainability of the coffee industry is why we do what we do.

We only work with roasters that make meaningful connections with coffee producers and are committed to partnering with them to grow coffee in a sustainable way. A non-negotiable part of sustainability is paying the farmers a fair amount, which is perhaps the most important aspects of the coffee supply chain.  Our partners pay direct trade prices which results in the producer being paid far more than the fair trade or commodity coffee price.  

How fresh are the beans?

The coffee you get is freshly roasted for your order and shipped within a week of roasting.

How much does each bag weigh?
So, one of the things about craft coffee is that not all roasters use the same weight of bag.  For example, a few we are working with this month:
Discovery Coffee out of Victoria has 340g bags,
Monogram Coffee, Calgary has 340g bags,
Candid Coffee, Edmonton has 250g bags.
One of the things we are super intentional about is making sure we get you the most amount of coffee every month for your money.  So, we would never for example feature 3 roasters that have smaller bags of coffee.  But we may have 1 smaller bag per month.  We wish that all roasters utilize the same bag size, but, unfortunately there is no standard.  However, some of them just have such excellent coffees that we couldn’t pass them over.
The one thing I CAN promise, is that we will make sure your box is awesome and is a great value for your money.
What if my partner and I have different brew profiles?

We are working on updating the website to accommodate this. For now, you can complete another order and leave us a note in the notes section telling us that both orders can be shipped together. Please note, the current minimum order for shipping is 2 bags.

What if I don’t love the beans you send me?

No problem. Just let us know and we will work with you to find the profile you DO love for your next box!

What if I want to change my coffee preference?

You can change your coffee preference as needed! Simply log into your account and navigate to ‘Subscriptions’. Once there, you’ll see your subscription details including coffee adventure level, number of bags and frequency. Click on the button ‘Upgrade or Downgrade’. You’ll be taken to a new page where you can adjust your order frequency, adventure level and number of bags.

What if I need to skip a month?

Easy! Or Simply log into your account and you can suspend your next subscription. Once you’re logged in, go to ‘My Subscriptions’. Under the Account section, you’ll see the option to ‘Suspend’.  Click on Suspend and your account will automatically be on hold; your next payment will not go through until you reactivate your account.
